User Research
Stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies. I start by listening: to users, to the business, and to the silence between feature requests.
I'm Naman Gundaniya. I turn ambiguous user problems into interfaces people actually want to use, blending human research with an AI-augmented workflow that ships faster without sacrificing craft.
“Good UX is invisible.
Great UX feels like it was always there.”
A six-stage workflow where AI accelerates divergence, and the designer owns convergence. Research is never skipped; it's the spine of every decision.
Stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies. I start by listening: to users, to the business, and to the silence between feature requests.
Affinity mapping, personas, journey maps. Turning 30 hours of transcripts into 3 insights the team can actually act on. Strategy becomes visible here.
Sitemaps, user flows, task flows. Before any pixel: who goes where, why, and what happens when they get stuck. AI helps generate flow variants; I cut and stitch the right one.
I use AI tools to rapidly generate dozens of low-fi variations, diverging fast to escape the obvious. Then I take the strongest references and manually refine the user flows, fixing the IA gaps and edge cases AI can't see.
AI tools generate hi-fi starting points from the refined low-fi: component layouts, colour exploration. I then take over: fixing typographic rhythm, pressure-testing accessibility, and polishing micro-interactions.
Interactive prototypes, usability testing via Maze, then a clean design-system handoff with specs and QA. The loop closes back to research, where every shipped feature becomes a hypothesis for the next round.
A snapshot of recent engagements. Each project below is grounded in user research, validated through testing, and shipped with a documented design system.
Redesigned a dense clinical dashboard into a calm, role-based workspace. Cut task completion time by 41% for nurses through restructured IA and a token-driven design system.
End-to-end website redesign: research, IA, hi-fi, and a flexible component library the in-house team now maintains solo.
A behaviour-first budgeting app. Onboarding redesigned around mental models, lifting 7-day retention by 28%.
A healthcare app overhaul focused on accessibility (WCAG AA) and emotional tone. Rebuilt the appointment flow end-to-end.
Conversion-led redesign of a boutique DTC storefront. New PDP lifted add-to-cart by 22%.
A transparent map of how generative tools accelerate ideation and hi-fi generation, while research, synthesis, and contextual judgement stay firmly human.
I prompt AI tools with the refined user flows to generate 15–20 low-fi wireframe variations in minutes. The goal isn't to use them; it's to escape my own defaults and surface layouts I wouldn't have sketched. Then I manually rebuild the user flows, fixing the IA gaps AI can't perceive.
AI tools turn the refined low-fi into hi-fi starting points: component layouts, colour systems, spacing scales. I take the last 30%: typographic rhythm, accessibility pressure-tests, motion choreography, and the micro-details that separate 'good from afar' from genuinely good.
Five engagements, five products shipped. Below are excerpts from clients who hired me specifically for UI/UX leadership.
Naman redesigned our entire clinic OS from the ground up. His user research surfaced pain points our team had missed for two years, and the design system he delivered is still the backbone of our product.
He redesigned our web app with a level of UX rigour I hadn't seen before. His grasp of component libraries, Tailwind, Bootstrap, and custom tokens accelerated our revamp dramatically.
From day one till execution, Naman handled the UX redesign with precision and detail. His approach to understanding the vision and converting it into a live, accessible product is immaculate.
Extremely talented designer with great communication and a relentless eye for detail. He worked closely with our engineering team, carried the UX ownership end-to-end, and elevated every screen.
Naman is a great designer: responsive, flexible, and genuinely open to feedback. The Figma flows and design documentation he delivered were the cleanest handoff our dev team had ever received.
A true team player. He brainstormed, iterated, and delivered, with amazing character and dedication to the craft. The design system he left behind still scales with us a year later.
